Note: Applications are open! Apply for the MLIR Summer School 2026!
MLIR is reshaping the future of compiler technology. In only a few years, it has grown into a foundational framework powering AI, EDA, HPC, quantum computing, and cutting‑edge cryptographic toolchains. Its rapidly expanding multi‑domain ecosystem offers unique opportunities for learning, collaboration, and innovation. The 2026 MLIR Summer School is designed especially for beginners, offering a welcoming environment where students, early‑career researchers, and newcomers can take their first steps into MLIR, while still providing space for experts to meet, exchange ideas, and shape the future of the ecosystem together.
Set on the seafront of Santa Cristina beach, in Perillo (A Coruña), the school combines hands‑on foundational courses with informal discussions, collaborative exercises, and community‑building activities in an inspiring seaside setting. Throughout the week, participants will learn the fundamentals of MLIR, explore practical applications across domains, and connect with developers and researchers from around the world. And if weather allows, we will also take the opportunity to observe the solar eclipse on August 12, making this edition not only technically enriching, but memorable on a personal level as well.
Note: This summer school is designed for beginners and everyone interested in MLIR and its foundations. Taking into account feedback from earlier editions, we will provide significant more space for people who are relatively new to MLIR. We keep meeting rooms available for self-organized parallel discussions on focus topics. While we experimented with an expert-focused MLIR (Un)School in Summer 2025 in Cambridge, this iteration of the MLIR school follows again its roots and will be in the beginner-focused spirit of the first MLIR (winter) school in Paris.
Hotel Faranda Rías Altas
Stay by the sea at Hotel Faranda Rías Altas, situated on the Santa Cristina beachfront, just minutes from A Coruña’s vibrant center. With sweeping views over the Ria, quiet coastal paths, and modern facilities for both rest and work, it offers an inspiring setting to focus, learn, and connect, immersed in Galicia’s Atlantic charm.
Hands-on Courses
Start your journey with MLIR by diving into its core concepts and infrastructure. Our course will guide you through the fundamentals of SSA, operator lowering, and dialect definition. By the end, these essential building blocks will no longer be mysteries. Instead, you will design MLIR compilers with confidence.
