MLIR continues to reshape compiler technology across AI, EDA, HPC, quantum computing, and beyond. After beginner-oriented editions (Paris, A Coruña) and an expert-oriented (Un)School in Cambridge, the European Winter School on MLIR 2027 returns to a small, intensive format in the Alps.
From Monday 4 January (noon) to Friday 8 January (before noon), participants stay and work together at Big Sky in Chamonix. The week mixes topic deep-dives with hands-on time alongside experts. One half-day is reserved for an optional social outing on Wednesday morning (Aiguille du Midi, weather permitting).
Note: This edition is expert-oriented. It is a good fit if you already work with MLIR (or a closely related IR stack) and want deep technical exchange rather than an introductory curriculum. Beginners looking for a first course may prefer materials from earlier editions (see Series).
Big Sky, Chamonix
The school takes place at Big Sky in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. Full-board lodging and working rooms are on site, with Mont Blanc as a backdrop — a compact setting designed for focused talks, informal coding sessions, and community building.
Topic deep-dives
An expert-oriented week in the spirit of the Cambridge (Un)School: short talks followed by extended discussion. Topic days cover HPC, backends, front-ends, and formal methods & IR, each led by an animator who invites speakers and contributors.
Hands-on with authors
Go beyond slides: work side by side with dialect authors and practitioners. The focus is to appropriate existing dialects through guided coding, clinics, and informal working groups — learn by building with the people who ship the IR.
